Virginia Higher Education Advocacy Day (VHEAD) 2026

Dear Colleagues,

VHEAD is a vital opportunity for faculty across the Commonwealth to come together and advocate for the future of higher education in Virginia. Please take a look at the tentative Agenda. 

Co-hosted by the Faculty Senate of Virginia (FSVA), the Virginia Conference of the American Association of University Professors (AAUP), and the Faculty Senate of Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), VHEAD brings faculty directly into conversation with legislators to discuss critical issues such as higher education funding, academic freedom, faculty working conditions, and anticipated policy developments. As the higher education landscape continues to evolve, faculty voices are more important than ever.

We strongly encourage faculty representatives from your institution to participate. Your insight, expertise, and advocacy play a key role in ensuring that the priorities and concerns of Virginia’s higher education community are clearly communicated to the General Assembly.

Additionally, the FSVA traditionally offers limited travel support for participants traveling longer distances. Information and the application form are available at the following link.
